Rational Resilience: Incentivizing Rational Systems

Spencer Oriot

Potential users have competing alternatives, whether resilient or not. To maximize adoption, designers should consider user rationality to be a constraint in the design.

As a participant in the DoD's prestigious Hacking4Defense program, Spencer Oriot developed an interest in cybersecurity research, particularly the intersection of economic, technical, and systemic factors. He uses analytical tools and concepts from a wide range of disciplines, including game theory, cybernetics, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, theoretical computer science, information theory, and market design to model the relationships between humans, technology, and security. He has presented at conferences including the Workshop on the Economics of Information Security (WEIS) and the Computational Cybersecurity in Compromised Environments (C3E) Workshop, and is always open to interesting opportunities to collaborate.
