"Approach Enables Experts to Look Beyond IP in Cyber Security Investigations"
Cybersecurity experts at the University of Plymouth have developed a technique, which would improve upon recognition performance within digital forensic investigations by enabling investigators to examine an individual suspect’s use of the internet. This technique steps away from traditional IP analysis by allowing investigators to examine an individual’s internet use via metadata deriving from network traffic. This article further discusses the study behind this method in identifying an individual user’s internet use, why traditional IP analysis is no longer considered a reliable method in such investigations, and how this method could help digital forensic investigators.
