"Private Browsing Gets More Private"
A new system called Veil was presented by researchers from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and Harvard University, which improves upon private browsing. Although web browsers in private-browsing mode temporarily disables the recording of browsing history, data retrieved during a session can still remain in the computer’s memory. Veil ensures the encryption of data loaded into memory by the browser until it is displayed on screen. This article further discusses the security vulnerabilities of web browsers’ private-browsing functions, along with the development and security features of Veil.
