"Researchers Find Leaky Apps That Put Privacy at Risk"

Researchers have revealed security weaknesses contained by browser extensions, Android applications, and Facebook's advertisement system that pose a threat to the privacy of users. Although the Facebook advertisement system is not intended to reveal users’ identities to advertisers, an option offered by the system could be abused to enable the identification of users. A number of browser extensions such as Adblocker, Speak It, and more, have also been found to be leaking users’ web history. Some Android applications were also discovered to be leaking users’ personal information. This article continues to discuss research surrounding how browser extensions, Android applications, and Facebook's advertisement system could impact the privacy of users.
