"NC State to Lead Multi-Institution Software Supply Chain Security Grant from NSF"

NC State University is the lead institution on a $9 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to conduct research on technical challenges in software supply chain security and to assist in the development of a diverse workforce for the software industry. Software professionals must address software supply chain attacks as modern software is vulnerable to various malicious activities. The Secure Software Supply Chain Center (S3C2) is established through this project, which gathers researchers, industry partners, and government agencies together to develop scientific tools, metrics, data formats, and methods to reduce software security risks. The project will also promote a diverse workforce of technical leaders and practitioners capable of problem-solving in software supply chain models through education, outreach, and training. Summer programs and new course modules will train current and future technical leaders and practitioners in developing more secure software. This article continues to discuss NC State University leading a multi-institution grant aimed at bolstering software supply chain security and building a diverse workforce that can develop more secure software.
