"New Study Into the Safety and Regulations of Autonomous Vehicles"

A recently announced study will focus on the future challenges associated with autonomous vehicles (AVs) regarding cybersecurity and more. The ASIS Foundation awarded funding to the University of Portsmouth and the University of West London to study AV security and regulations. The project seeks to answer important questions about the effectiveness of existing regulatory frameworks and standards governing the secure and safe expansion of AV use. In addition, it will analyze how these regulations address threats, risks, and opportunities in the security sector. AV usage has increased with vehicles being integrated into various systems, including transportation, defense, and surveillance, and involving biometric data recognition, safety, and cybersecurity. The research will comprehensively evaluate the different challenges associated with AV deployment. Researchers will assess the current legal and ethical environments in civil and military settings, identify existing regulatory frameworks, explore new regulations, and develop a guide for security practitioners. This article continues to discuss the project on AV security and regulations.
