"Lassonde Researcher Examining Privacy Concerns in Virtual Reality Environment"

Some Virtual Reality (VR) technologies pose significant privacy risks by improperly collecting and sharing users' data. Yan Shvartzshnaider, an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering, is working to address virtual privacy concerns and develop cybersecurity solutions. Professor Shvartzshnaider and Karoline Brehm, an international exchange master's student at York University, released a paper titled "Understanding Privacy in Virtual Reality Classrooms," discussing concerns regarding VR platforms in educational settings and proposing a privacy assessment framework. The paper introduces a framework for examining and addressing VR technology privacy risks based on the theory of Contextual Integrity (CI). This article continues to discuss the project on addressing VR technology privacy risks.
