President Obama Appoints first Chief Information Security Officer for Federal Government

President Obama appointed Gregory Touhill as the first Chief Information Security Officer, CISO, for the Federal Government. He was the Department of Homeland Security’s deputy assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications. Unlike Czar's of the past; the CISO is to be an inward facing position to help the federal government improve its cyber position. This position was first annouced back in February as part of the CNAP cybersecurity plan annoucment.

Grant Schneider was also annouced to be his acting deputy. He is a government employee who is the director of cybersecurity policy at the White House’s National Security Council.
