Federal level institutions comprise the NSF Directorates for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), Engineering (EE), Education and Human Resources (EHR), and Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE); the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute for Food & Agriculture (USDA/NIFA); the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (USDoT/FHWA); and the U.S. State Department. As well, one State-level agency and numerous Local Governments and agencies across cities, towns, counties, neighborhoods, tribal jurisdictions – both rural and urban – provide funding support or participate as collaborators directly in the research.
