“Why Printers Still Pose a Security Threat”

Researchers at University Alliance Ruhr have performed further investigations on printer security and have announced that printers within a network are still prone to several different types of attacks. Laser printers have been identified as the most vulnerable type of printer and could easily be exploited to launch attacks such as distributed denial of service, buffer overflow, and much more. This article discusses how these printer vulnerabilities can be exploited, why security of printers is often overlooked as well as how security should be implemented.
