According to findings and analyses shared by the Cisco 2017 Midyear Cybersecurity Report (MCR), new destruction of service (DeOS) attacks are expected to emerge that could have adverse impacts on backups and safety measures implemented by organizations to protect systems and data following an attack. Recent cyberattacks such as WannaCry also indicate the rise of widespread and highly damaging DeOS attacks, which could severely hamper the recovery of affected businesses.
