Starting in the Spring of 2018, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in effect. The objective of the GDPR is to strengthen the protection of data belonging to citizens within the EU. However, this regulation will have an extensive impact as any organization outside of the EU that conducts business with EU citizens will still have to fulfill the requirements of this new legislation. Organizations that have consumers in the EU are required to make significant changes to the processes of gathering and managing consumer data in order to comply with the GDPR.
