"Ransomware Actors Cut Loose on Health Care Organizations"

Healthcare organizations are increasingly becoming the targets of ransomware attacks as indicated by recent attacks on Allscripts, Hancock Health, and Adams Health Network. Different variants of the infamous ransomware family called SamSam have been used by threat actors in the three recent incidents. This article further discusses the recent ransomware attacks faced by the healthcare sector, the observed increased targeting of the healthcare sector by ransomware attacks, driving factors behind the targeting of healthcare institutions by cyberattackers, and SamSam ransomware.
