"Healthcare Providers Overconfident in Data Sharing Controls, Security"

A survey conducted by Netwrix to which 1,045 global IT professionals from different sectors, including healthcare, responded. The purpose of the survey was to gain insight into how organizations handle data and to identify security shortfalls that could lead to the exposure of sensitive data. The results of the study indicate that the majority of healthcare providers are overconfident about their data sharing controls and data storage security despite the growing number and size of data breaches faced by the healthcare industry. More than 50 percent of healthcare organizations expressed certainty that their regulated data is stored securely. However, over 20 percent of the respondents said that they had discovered data outside of their organizations' dedicated locations within the last 12 months. This article continues to discuss key findings of the Netwrix survey pertaining to how healthcare providers perceive their data sharing controls and security, as well as the data management challenges faced by most healthcare organizations.
