"Lack of Cyber Confidence Across all Levels of Government, Survey Finds"

SolarWinds recently released a report that highlights the results of a survey to which IT operations and security decisionmakers from federal, state, and local governments responded. According to the report, all levels of government lack organizational maturity and confidence in their cybersecurity. The factors contributing to this lack of cyber confidence include the complexity of IT, insider threats, and network access management. Respondents expressed difficulties in segmenting users and taking a zero-trust approach to security stemming from the complexity of internal environments. More than half of the respondents revealed that negligent or untrained insiders remain a significant threat to security. This article continues to discuss the factors that have led to a lack of cyber confidence and organizational maturity across all levels of government as well as how most public sector organizations measure the success of their IT security teams.
