"IT Startup Develops Novel Blockchain-Based Approach for Secure Linking of Databases"

Researchers at Saarland University developed software, called "ChainifyDB," that uses a blockchain-based approach to allow different companies to connect their database management systems and securely process the data records needed for collaboration. For example, doctors who are treating the same patient could install the software on their current database management systems and then collectively create a data network in which they establish a shared table where they enter the patient file for that patient. If a doctor decides to change something in their table, other tables in the network would be affected. All doctors in the network must unanimously agree to changes to older table states before they are applied. This article continues to discuss the blockchain-based approach, potential uses, advantages, and development of the ChainifyDB software.
