Verizon's 2020 Cyber Espionage Report pulls information from other annual reports, including seven years of the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) and fourteen years of research from the Verizon Threat Research Advisory Center (VTRAC). According to the Cyber Espionage Report, 85% of cyber espionage incidents come from state-affiliated groups, while only 4% are from organized crime. The public sector (government agencies) remains the top target of cyber espionage, followed by manufacturing. Phishing and malware backdoors are also the most common point of entry for such activity.
