"TLS-Encrypted Malware Volumes Double in Just Months"

Security researchers from Sophos have discovered that the volume of malware hidden in encrypted traffic has doubled over the past few months as threat actors look to circumvent security tools.  The researchers claim that 23% of the detected malware in 2020 was encrypted with the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. However, in the first three months of 2021, the figure had grown to nearly 46%. Almost half of all encrypted malware went to servers in the US and India in Q1 2021.  A senior threat researcher named Sean Gallagher believes that the rise of malware hidden in encrypted traffic can be linked to an overall increase in the use of TLS by popular web services abused by threat actors.
