"The UK Launches Free Cybersecurity Training for School Teachers and Staff"
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which is a part of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), has launched free cybersecurity training for school teachers and staff in the UK to help British schools improve their defense against cyberattacks. The training provides real-life incident case studies and practical steps that staff can follow to protect themselves against attacks online. School teachers and staff are encouraged to use strong passwords, secure devices using PINs, reduce the amount of information available about them online to avoid phishing attempts, report anything that looks suspicious, and more. The case studies included in this training cover phishing email scams in which administration staff members are asked to provide the contact details of students' parents, the use of unencrypted school USBs, and other real-life cyber incidents. The training brings further attention to the main cyber threats facing schools and the significant impact that cyber incidents can have on educational systems. NCSC designed the training package to be easily accessible by any staff member regardless of their role and technical knowledge. This article continues to discuss the free cybersecurity training released by the NCSC for school staff.
