"Malware Targeting Mexico Stealing Financial Information Through COVID-19"

According to the McAfee Mobile Malware Research Team, customers in Mexico are being targeted by Android malware disguised as a bank application or security tool that provides information about out-of-service ATMs. This threat has been flagged as Android/Banker.BT by McAfee Mobile Security. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many banking customers have become increasingly reliant on banking apps and other digital tools to manage their financial data. Banks have also urged their customers to maintain social distancing. Cybercriminals have exploited the safety measures stemming from the pandemic to trick customers into downloading malicious applications. The malware could steal authentication codes, which the threat actors could then use to access victims' accounts at financial institutions.
