"Researchers Found New Ransomware DeadBolt Targeting NAS Servers"

Researchers at QNAP Sytems found a new ransomware variant called DeadBolt that is actively compromising unsecured Internet-connected Network-Attached Storage (NAS) devices, encrypting users' data for Bitcoin ransom. The DeadBolt ransomware campaign has targeted NAS devices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, France, Italy, South Korea, Poland, the US, the UK, and the Netherlands. This article continues to discuss the QNAP Systems' warning of DeadBolt ransomware targeting Internet-facing NAS devices, how QNAP NAS consumers can check whether their NAS device is exposed to the Internet, suggestions for strengthening NAS security, and a new cryptomining malware also found to be targeting QNAP NAS devices.
