"World's Largest Online Hacking Competition Begins Next Week"

Hacking experts at Carnegie Mellon's CyLab run an annual free online cybersecurity competition called picoCTF. The competition introduces the cybersecurity realm to young students in order to help build a talented cyber workforce. This year, the competition will take place on March 15-29, with participants being given challenges created by Carnegie Mellon's internationally acclaimed competitive hacking team called the Plaid Parliament of Pwning. The challenges are designed to gradually increase in difficulty. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top US-based middle and high school teams. Although the competition's target audience is middle and high schoolers, university-level students and industry professionals have been interested in the challenges as they participated in previous competition iterations. This article continues to discuss the purpose and structure of CyLab's picoCTF competition, and other countries that have taken notice of the competition and leveraged it for their own residents.
