"Asset Visibility Is a Major Challenge for Security Professionals"

According to a recent study by unified asset intelligence platform Armis of more than 100 security professionals, about 40 percent consider asset visibility the largest challenge confronting their organizations. Over half (54 percent) of respondents cite staff behavior as the main risk, while a quarter cites insufficient asset visibility as the biggest risk. Additionally, 69 percent of respondents feel that the board's participation in cybersecurity has grown over the previous six months, but nearly a quarter (23 percent) say that it is still not enough. Findings from the survey reveal that risk assessment, compliance, asset visibility, security awareness instruction, and threat detection/incident response are the top five cybersecurity priorities. Furthermore, during the past six months, businesses have started to alter their responses to cybersecurity issues, with a third reporting that their organizations have evaluated and/or tightened security procedures. However, significant obstacles still exist as only 25 percent of respondents had carried out a comprehensive risk assessment in the previous six months. This article continues to discuss key findings from Armis' survey of security professionals pertaining to challenges and priorities.
