"Successful Bootcamp with Girls Code Club"

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Gothenburg organized a course to encourage girls to explore coding. Through the course, the girls experienced programming and learned about cryptography, hands-on hacking, sorting algorithms, and sustainability. They had the opportunity to interact with professionals from academia and industry. In addition, they listened to various women working at Volvo and TestScouts and played an optimization game with women at Jeppesen, a Boeing company. They also visited Tibco's offices, where they designed various web application solutions. When the participants shared their experiences at the end of the course, it was revealed that some were completely new to coding, while others had tried it on varying levels previously. Several of them state that the bootcamp sparked or strengthened an existing interest in coding and contributed to a desire to practice it in some way. One of the participants claims that coding provides so many tools that she can apply to practically any field she envisions herself working in. This article continues to discuss the University of Gothenburg's Girls Code Club Bootcamp.
