"Ransomware Group Exposes Data Stolen From LAUSD School System"

The Vice Society ransomware group has leaked data and documents stolen from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). LAUSD Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho revealed the exposure of stolen data and announced the launch of a new hotline for concerned parents and students. The data was made public following the school district's announcement that it would not give in to ransom demands and that the money could be better spent on students and their education. The Vice Society gang, which was responsible for the school system attack, has posted a link to the stolen data for the LAUSD entry on their data leak website. A note was also made to the US Homeland Security Department's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which assisted the school system in responding to the incident. The Vice Society Ransomware group claimed to have stolen 500 GB of data during the hack but had yet to provide any proof. Certain file names in the exposed data, such as "ssn," "Secret and Confidential," "Passport," and "Incident," indicate that they may contain sensitive information. The disclosed documents also include confidential psychological assessments of students, contract and legal agreements, business records, and numerous database entries. This article continues to discuss the LAUSD ransomware attack and the exposure of the stolen data by the Vice Society ransomware group.
