According to recent Atlas VPN research, on average, 37 percent of businesses lose more than $100,000 per cyberattack. Some companies lose even more, with 22 percent suffering significant losses ranging from $100,000 to $499,999. Cybercriminals stole even more money from businesses, swiping between $500,000 and $999,999 from 11 percent of businesses. In addition, 4 percent of businesses claim to have lost more than $1 million as a result of a successful cyberattack. About 2 percent of businesses do not know what their actual losses are. After a successful cyberattack, 19 percent of companies experienced a loss of business or contracts, and 18 percent experienced money theft.
