"Dell to Open Zero-Trust Center of Excellence"

Dell Technologies has announced that, in collaboration with CyberPoint International and the Maryland Innovation Security Institute (MISI), it will open a zero-trust Center of Excellence at the US Cyber Command's DreamPort facility in Columbia, Maryland, next spring. Organizations will be provided with a secure data center to validate repeatable zero-trust blueprints based on the US Department of Defense's (DOD) Zero Trust Reference Architecture. Dell also promised to change the way cybersecurity technologies are consumed through a set of services based on endpoint security platforms it has developed to enable zero-trust security. According to Dell Global CTO John Roese, most cybersecurity platforms used today are reactive because they are designed to help organizations recover from an attack instead of preventing one. As a result, according to Roese, there is a persistent need for a different architectural approach that will enable organizations to consume cybersecurity technologies as a service rather than requiring organizations to establish dedicated teams for managing security operations. Dell is developing a unified control plane to manage all aspects of security, including data protection in cloud and on-premises IT environments, as well as to combat ransomware, reducing the current level of friction that organizations face. The company is making a case for an emerging as-a-service approach to IT and security management in which it manages infrastructure on behalf of customers. This article continues to discuss Dell's zero-trust Center of Excellence and the company's case for an as-a-service approach to managing IT and security.
