"Avast Releases Free Decryptor for Hades Ransomware Variants"

Avast has released a decryptor for the Hades ransomware variants known as 'MafiaWare666,' 'Jcrypt,' 'RIP Lmao,' and 'BrutusptCrypt,' allowing victims to recover their files for free. According to the security firm, it discovered a flaw in the Hades strain's encryption scheme, allowing some of the variants to be unlocked. This may not be the case for newer or unknown samples that use a different encryption system. Victims of the supported ransomware variants can use Avast's tool to decrypt and re-access their files without paying the attackers a ransom, which ranges between $50 and $300. However, ransom demands in some cases reached tens of thousands of dollars. This Hades ransomware family is distinct from the Hades ransomware used by Evil Corp in an attack on ForwardAir. This encryptor's target, the Hades ransomware, is a lower-level operation that did not engage in data theft or double-extortion attacks. This article continues to discuss the decryptor released by Avast for Hades ransomware variants.
