"Medibank Group Detects Cyberattack, Takes Several Services Offline as a Precaution"

One of Australia's largest private health insurers has revealed it was the target of a possible cyberattack.  Medibank Group recently detected "unusual activity" on its network.  Specialized cybersecurity firms were called in as a result, and preliminary investigations found no indication that sensitive data, including customers' identifying information, had been compromised.  As a precaution, Medibank Group said it had taken several services offline.  Medibank noted that as part of their response to this incident, they will be isolating and removing access to some customer-facing systems to reduce the likelihood of damage to systems or data loss.  The company noted that the investigation was ongoing and that customers would be provided with regular updates.  Medibank stated that they are working around the clock to understand the full nature of the incident and any additional impact it may have on their customers, people, and broader ecosystem.  According to Medibank's website, they have 3.7 million members across Australia.
