"Crypto Wallet of NFT Influencer Wiped Away by Google Ads Malware"

According to a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) influencer known as "NFT God" on social media, a Google Ads-delivered malware attack cost them thousands of dollars in NFTs and cryptocurrency. The influencer stated that their livelihood was violated by the attack in which they inadvertently downloaded malicious software from a Google Ad. This malware resulted in their online accounts, including Twitter, Substack, Gmail, and Discord, being hacked as well as their cryptocurrency wallet being compromised. Hackers have a history of using Google Ads to distribute malware via the Google search engine. For example, in February 2018, cybercriminals successfully collected over $50 million in Bitcoin by purchasing the top position in Google search results using Google Ads. The NFT influencer stated that they downloaded OBS, an open-source video streaming tool, via the Google search engine, but instead of visiting the official website, they chose a sponsored advertisement for what they believed to be the same software. After finding that their two Twitter accounts had posted phishing tweets, they determined that the software they had installed included malware. This article continues to discuss the NFT influencer's entire cryptocurrency wallet getting drained due to Google Ads-delivered malware.
