"Russia-Linked Drug Marketplace Solaris Hacked by Its Rival"

According to blockchain analysis experts at Elliptic, one of the major darknet drug marketplaces called Solaris has been hacked by its competitor. Users who attempted to access Solaris after January 13 were redirected to the newly-launched Russian-language drug marketplace called Kraken, which claimed to have successfully seized control of Solaris' infrastructure, GitLab repository, and project source code. Kraken revealed logs appearing to confirm its takeover of Solaris and stated that all of Solaris' bitcoin wallets have been disabled. Elliptic said that Solaris-affiliated bitcoin addresses have been inactive since January 13. Solaris became a leading darknet drug marketplace a few months ago when it replaced Hydra, which was once the world's largest darknet marketplace with an estimated $5 billion in value. In April, German police seized Hydra, which also marketed stolen databases, falsified documents, and hacking-for-hire services. This article continues to discuss the hacking of Solaris by its rival known as Kraken.
