"Cybercriminal Groups Wooing Hackers With Seven-Figure Salaries and Holiday Pay"

Cybercriminal groups are trying to recruit hackers and technology professionals by offering white-collar employment benefits and salaries of up to $1.2 million. Researchers discovered that the growth in cybercrime over the past two years has caused some groups to increase hiring efforts to meet demand. Researchers analyzed over 200,000 employment advertisements posted on dark web pages between January 2020 and June 2022. The study revealed that the volume of advertisements grew significantly during the onset of the pandemic, surpassing an average of 10,000 advertisements per quarter, which peaked in March 2020. Dedicated 'hacker' positions were not the only area where cybercriminal groups were discovered seeking more expertise. Developers, administrators, and designers were rising in demand, while software engineers and network testers were also in high demand. The analysis indicated that job advertisements seeking developers were the most prevalent, accounting for 61 percent of the total. Developers also topped the list of the highest-paying dark web-sourced Information Technology (IT) positions. This article continues to discuss findings from the analysis of employment advertisements posted on dark web pages.
