"Mix of Legacy OT and Connected Technologies Creates Security Gaps"

According to an Information Services Group (ISG) report, the growth in threats to vehicles and industrial Operational Technology (OT) has prompted many companies to invest in advanced technologies and services to improve the security of their assets. In light of recent cyberattacks against industrial facilities and connected vehicles, the report reveals that companies in manufacturing, automotive, life sciences, and more have elevated cybersecurity to a top priority. The need to modernize or replace legacy systems, coupled with the shortage of qualified cybersecurity professionals, is driving the expansion of solution and outsourcing providers. Although Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication and Machine Learning (ML) have helped industrial organizations improve quality, maintenance, and machine life, many are now using a combination of legacy OT and connected technology, thus introducing security gaps. This article continues to discuss key findings and points from the ISG research report.
