"OpenAI: Payment Info Leaked during ChatGPT Outage"

During a recent ChatGPT outage, a small percentage of ChatGPT Plus users may have had their payment information compromised, according to OpenAI. Some users were able to see another active user's first and last name, email address, payment address, the last four digits of a credit card number, and credit card expiration date in the hours before the company took ChatGPT offline. OpenAI confirmed that no full credit card numbers were ever exposed. The company intentionally took ChatGPT offline to fix a system bug. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, referred to the bug in ChatGPT's open-source library as a "significant issue." During the nine-hour period that ChatGPT was offline to fix a bug, about 1.2 percent of ChatGPT Plus users may have had their payment information leaked to other ChatGPT users. This could be significant, as recent stats indicate that 'Plus' has around one million subscribers. This article continues to discuss the ChatGPT payment information leak.
