"Cyber LEAP Act Aims for Innovations Through Cybersecurity Grand Challenges"
The Senate Commerce Committee has approved the Cybersecurity Competitions to Yield Better Efforts to Research the Latest Exceptionally Advanced Programs, or Cyber LEAP Act of 2020, which aims to set up cybersecurity competitions across the US that will encourage significant developments in security. The legislation will require the secretary of commerce to establish Cybersecurity Grand Challenges that cover areas, including cyber training, emerging technology, federal agency resilience, reimagining digital identity, and the economics of a cyberattack. In addition, the new bill recommends that the commerce secretary takes the "Cybersecurity Moonshot" approach that promotes societal transformation regarding security.
