"Rowhammer Data Hacks Are More Dangerous Than Anyone Feared"

Rowhammer is a hacking technique that attackers can use to cause electromagnetic leakage in a computer's memory chip and trigger bit flips in the data stored in memory. The data changes resulting from a Rowhammer attack can be used by attackers to obtain more access to a system. Researchers in the VUSec research group at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam have detailed a new Rowhammer attack that can circumvent the built-in protections of error-correcting code (ECC) memory, which is used in mission-critical systems. This article continues to discuss the concept of a Rowhammer attack and new discoveries surrounding such attacks.
