"SMBs Finally Investing More in Cybersecurity"
A survey conducted by ConnectWise to which 700 IT and business decision-makers responded revealed that most small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs) plan to increase cybersecurity investments over the next 12 months, despite two-thirds of respondents admitting they lacked the in-house expertise needed to defend themselves. Of the respondents, 73 percent say their organization has reached a cybersecurity tipping point that requires action, with 43 percent now identifying cybersecurity as one of their top three priorities. More than two-thirds of respondents expressed concern that a serious cyberattack could put them out of business. Less than a third (30 percent) currently have some form of cyber insurance policy in place. According to the survey, the top areas of concern are remote devices or employees being compromised (75 percent), customer data being breached (74 percent), and IT system downtime (73 percent). Only 40 percent thought their organization was well protected against customer data breaches, while 41 percent said the same about IT system downtime. Just 22 percent are completely confident in the security of their organization's cloud services. This article continues to discuss key findings from the ConnectWise 2022 State of SMB Cybersecurity report.
