Over 7,000 internet-connected industrial refrigerators are vulnerable to being remotely instructed by malicious actors to defrost. The temperature controlled systems of these refrigerators are able to be found and controlled via the use of the Shodan search engine and defaults passwords. This article continues to discuss the vulnerability of internet-connected industrial refrigerators, the potential impacts of defrosting these refrigerators, and the manufacturer's response to this discovery.
