"US Space Force Conducts Innovative Cyber Talent Acquisition Process"
The US Space Force held a Cyber Constructive Service (CCS) Credit Board in May 2022, during which the service solicited applications from civilian cyber professionals to become Space Force cyber officers. A virtual conference attracted approximately 1,000 people, with more than 400 applying. The board narrowed the field even further, and 10 cyber professionals accepted commissions as cyber officers. A person with a Bachelor's degree or higher can apply to serve in the Air Force or Space Force through normal commissioning. Any newly commissioned cyber officer will begin as a second lieutenant and advance through the ranks as usual. However, because of their unique skills and experiences, these civilian cyber professionals were offered commissions to first lieutenant, captain, major, and lieutenant colonel. This article continues to discuss the cyber talent acquisition process conducted by the US Space Force.
