"1.1 Million Tesla Cars Recalled Over Software Glitch"

Tesla has recalled about 1.1 million US vehicle models after discovering a flaw in the vehicles' automatic window reversal system. The software flaw impacts Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2022. The flaw may cause the system to malfunction after detecting an obstacle, thus increasing the likelihood of a crash. As a result, Tesla violated a federal motor vehicle safety standard that governs power windows. The company's rigorous testing revealed that the vehicles' pinch detection and retraction performance did not meet the requirements of automatic reversal systems. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a closing window without the proper automatic reversing system may wield extreme force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting. To mitigate the risk, Tesla has executed an over-the-air software update of the automatic window reversal system. This article continues to discuss Tesla's recall of 1.1 million US car models due to a flaw in the vehicles' automatic window reversal system.
