"50% Of Orgs Report Experiencing Data Breaches Due to Exposed API Secrets"

The Application Programming Interface (API) security vendor Corsha surveyed over 400 security and engineering professionals, finding that 53 percent have faced a data breach due to compromised API tokens. Additionally, according to the survey, 86 percent of companies struggle to manage API secrets, spending up to 15 hours per week provisioning, managing, and dealing with secrets. This shows that companies need a more scalable method of protecting API secrets in order to continue operating in hybrid cloud environments while decreasing the risk of breaches. Fifty-one percent of developers and API professionals report that more than half of their development work is spent on APIs, representing an increase from 40 percent in 2020 to 49 percent in 2021. This article continues to discuss key findings from Corsha's research on API Identity and Access Management (IAM).
