"66 Percent of SMBs Say a Cyber Attack Would Shut Them Down"

A recent survey conducted by VIPRE Security indicates that many small and midsize businesses (SMBs) would temporarily or permanently cease operations due to a lack of adequate security practices. The survey reveals the insufficiency of security practices within many SMBs such as the absence of a documented incident response plan, reliance on manual process to respond to an attack, infrequent cybersecurity training opportunities, and more. A separate survey conducted by VIPRE Security reveals the level of confidence contained by managed service providers (MSPs) in the operation of their business in the event that their clients’ systems and data are compromised by a cyberattack. This article further discusses what the results of these surveys reveal about SMB and MSP security, along with suggestions for IT managers and another survey conduced by SailPoint pertaining to the security concerns of senior IT decision makers.
