"Bank of America Warns Customers of Data Breach After Vendor Hack"

Bank of America is warning customers about a data breach after one of its service providers, Infosys McCamish Systems (IMS), was hacked in 2023. According to details shared with the Attorney General of Texas, the exposed Personally Identifiable Information (PII) included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial information, such as account and credit card numbers. Although Bank of America has yet to reveal how many customers were affected by the data breach, the IMS breach notification letter filed with the Attorney General of Maine revealed that 57,028 people were directly impacted. The LockBit ransomware gang claimed responsibility for the IMS attack, saying its operators encrypted over 2,000 systems.
