"Cyberattack Causes Disruptions at Wholesale Giant Metro"

International wholesale chain Metro has recently confirmed service outages after being targeted by a cyberattack.  Headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, the company operates more than 680 Metro and Makro stores in 24 countries and has over 95,000 employees worldwide.  The company, in a statement, noted that Metro/Makro is currently experiencing a partial IT infrastructure outage of several technical services.  The company stated that it has identified a cyberattack as causing the outages but has yet to provide specific details on the matter.  The company noted that while Metro stores are operating and services are regularly available, disruptions and delays may occur.  The company stated that store teams have quickly set up offline systems to process payments and that online orders through the web app and online store are being processed, but delays need to be expected.  The company has not provided details on how many of its stores might have been impacted by the incident, but German freelancer Günter Born reports that at least stores in Austria, France, and Germany have been suffering disruptions.
