"Cybersecurity Performance Goals: Assessing How CPGs Help Organizations Reduce Cyber Risk"

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released the Cybersecurity Performance Goals (CPGs) in October 2022 to help organizations of all sizes and levels of cyber maturity gain confidence in their cybersecurity posture and reduce business risk. CISA outlined four CPGs that organizations could implement earlier this summer as the first steps toward improved cybersecurity. While CISA continues to urge all organizations to implement these fundamental cybersecurity practices, the agency is encouraged to see and share some positive trends that have emerged since the CPGs were released. In line with CISA's Cybersecurity Strategic Plan and its focus on measuring risk reduction, the agency is measuring national progress in CPG adoption and associated progress in addressing risks. This article continues to discuss progress in the adoption of CPGs and the related progress in addressing key risks.
