"Department of State Cybersecurity Training Boosts Global Resilience Against DPRK Malware"

The US Department of State's Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy (CDP) is bolstering international capacity to combat Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) malware by sponsoring a training series for allies and partners worldwide. The CDP funded the development of the nine-day "Unhiding Hidden Cobra" training program, which was delivered to cybersecurity professionals from six partner countries in the Western Hemisphere, Africa, and Asia. The DPRK government's malicious cyber activity is referred to as "Hidden Cobra" by the US government. Courses will be offered to partner nations on a rotating basis throughout 2022 and 2023. The program includes hands-on exercises to prepare participants to prevent, detect, and mitigate malicious cyber activity by utilizing cybersecurity information released by US government agencies. Participants consist mostly of staff from computer security incident response teams and entities in the public and private sectors with similar roles. These virtual trainings are provided by CDP in collaboration with the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center based at Carnegie Mellon University. This article continues to discuss the Department of State cybersecurity training series aimed at boosting global resilience against DPRK malware.
