"Distributed Energy Resource Cybersecurity Framework Tool Shines in Solar Cybersecurity Assessment"

A new paper by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) researchers, presented at the 2023 IEEE Power and Energy Society's Innovative Smart Grid Technologies conference, emphasizes the importance of solar energy cybersecurity. Securing behind-the-meter Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) is critical as the global energy landscape evolves. The Distributed Energy Resource Cybersecurity Framework (DER-CF) is an innovative tool developed by NREL and funded by the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) that helps asset owners determine their cybersecurity maturity posture within their DER systems. It includes an interactive dashboard, progress tracking, and graphical representations, making DER-CF a game changer in bolstering cybersecurity maturity for different types of renewable deployments against cyber threats and addressing cybersecurity challenges. This article continues to discuss the DER-CF tool developed by NREL.
