According to researchers, quantum computers will deem current encryption algorithms obsolete as such computers will contain quantum-mechanical properties that could allow them to perform calculations much faster than regular computers. Therefore, the quantum technology research group, Qutech, and the Dutch bank, ABN AMRO, are collaborating in the development of quantum technology aimed at securing banking systems against future quantum attacks.
