"FBI Says North Korean Hackers Behind $100 Million Horizon Bridge Crypto Theft"

The FBI has confirmed that North Korean threat actors stole $100 million in cryptocurrency assets from the Harmony Horizon Bridge in June 2022. According to the law enforcement agency, the hack was attributed to the Lazarus Group and APT38, the latter of which is a North Korean state-sponsored threat group specializing in financial cyber operations. The FBI further noted that the Harmony hack used an attack campaign known as TraderTraitor, which was exposed by the US Homeland Security Department's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in April 2022. The campaign involved using social engineering tactics to lure cryptocurrency company employees into downloading rogue applications as part of a seemingly harmless recruitment operation. This article continues to discuss the FBI confirming that North Korean threat actors were behind the theft of $100 million in cryptocurrency from Harmony Horizon Bridge.
