In an ongoing campaign on X, formerly called Twitter, multiple fake accounts impersonating cryptocurrency scam investigators and blockchain security companies promote phishing pages to drain cryptocurrency wallets. The scammers use a breach on major cryptocurrency exchange platforms to lure victims as the scenario causes users to act quickly to protect their digital assets from theft. They impersonate accounts on X belonging to blockchain analytics or cryptocurrency fraud investigation companies and researchers, such as CertiK, ZachXBT, and Scam Sniffer, to promote false security breaches on Uniswap and Opensea. Many legitimate X users shared the scam on their accounts, some with hundreds of thousands of followers, without verifying the claims.
